The above competitive examination, which was postponed due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in the country at that time, will now be conducted on 10, 11 and 12 March 2026 at the Open University of Sri Lanka, Nawala, Nugegoda.

Please note that the papers, Tamil Language and Tamil Translation, previously held for this examination on 27.11.2025 are cancelled. Accordingly, the candidates who appeared for these papers are required to resit the same subjects.

Examination admissions will be posted to all candidates from 16.02.2026.

The library of the Official Languages Department will be open for the general public from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. starting from 06.07.2023 for book referencing. Thus, the general public will be given access to dictionaries, glossaries of terms, a valuable collection of publications on Official Languages Policy and its implementation and books written under a variety of subjects.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථාව ප්‍රකාරව සිංහල හා දෙමළ රාජ්‍ය භාෂා වශයෙන් ද ඉංග්‍රීසි භාෂාව සන්ධාන භාෂාව වශයෙන් ද පිළිගෙන ඇත. එයින් අපේක්ෂා කරනුයේ සමස්ත ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය පුරවැසියන්ගේ භාෂා අයිතිය සුරක්ෂිත කරමින් ඒ උදෙසා අවශ්‍යය නීතිමය පරිසරය ගොඩනැගීම ය. භාෂා අයිතිවාසිකම් උල්ලන්ඝනය වූ විට ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයට පැමිණිලිකර සහය ලබා ගැනීමට ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථාවෙන් ඉඩ ලබා දීමෙන් ඉහත පසුබිම වඩ වඩාත් ශක්තිමත් කිරීමක් සිදු  වේ. තවද 2019 වර්ෂයේ සිට සෑම වර්ෂයක ම ජූලි මස පළමුවන ( 07.01)  දිනය රාජ්‍ය භාෂා දිනය ලෙස නම් කිරීමත් එදින සිට සතියක් පුරා රාජ්‍ය භාෂා ප්‍රතිපත්තිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේ සතිය ලෙස ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කිරීමත් භාෂා අයිතියේ විශ්වීය භායව තහවුරු කිරීමක් සේම විවිධත්වය තුළින් එක්සත්කම ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේ දෑවැන්ත පියවරක් වශයෙන් ද පෙන්වාදීම වඩාත් කාලෝචිත වනු ඇත.

රාජ්‍ය භාෂා ප්‍රතිපත්තිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම එක් රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශයකට හෝ ආයතනයකට පමණක් ඉටුකිරීමේ විභවයක් නො පවතී. ඒ සඳහා සියලූ රාජ්‍ය ආයතන සේම සියලු රාජ්‍ය නිලධරයන් ද නොකැඩෙන, නොබිදෙන යධමක් සේ එක්ව ක්‍රියාකිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාව අන්කවර දිනකටත් වඩා අද ඉස්මතුව තිබේ. මෙම තිර අදිටන මත පදනම්ව රාජ්‍ය ආයතනවල භාෂා සැලසුම් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම ප්‍රචලිත කිරීම, රාජ්‍ය භාෂා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව යටතේ, ජාතික භාෂා පරිවර්තන මධ්‍යස්ථානය ස්තාපිත කිරීම, රාජ්‍ය භාෂා ප්‍රතිපත්තිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට අදාළ රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරයන්ට වගකීම් පැවරීම ආදී වැදගත් පියවර ගණනාවක් ගෙන ඇත.

2023 රාජ්‍ය භාෂා සතිය පදනම් කර ගනිමින් මෙවර රාජ්‍ය භාෂා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ද සුවිශේෂී වැඩසටහන් කිහිපයක් සංවිධානය කර ඇත. ඒ අතර 2023 ජූලි මස 06 වන දින රාජ්‍ය භාෂා උලෙළ පැවැත්වීම විශේෂයෙන් සඳහන් කළ යුතු ය. එහිදී සිදු වන විශේෂාංග පහත පරිදි සඳහන් කළ හැකි ය.

1. “වාර්ගික සුහදත්වය සඳහා භාෂාව නිර්මාණශීලීව යොදාගැනීම” නමින් ප්‍රධාන දේශනය පැවැත් වීම.
2. විශ්වවිද්‍යාලවල භාෂා පරිවර්තනය පිළිබඳ විශේෂ උපාධිය හදාරන සිසුන් ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් සකස් කළ භාෂා පරිවර්තක අත්පොත (දෙමළ/ ඉංග්‍රීසි) එළි දැක්වීම
3. භාෂා පරිවර්තන සංචිතයට ඇතුළත් කර ගැනීම සඳහා පැවැත් වූ විභාගය සමත් වූවන් හට සහතික පත්‍ර ප්‍රදානය
4. තෝරාගත් පුස්තකාල කිහිපයක් සඳහා දෙපාර්තමේන්තු ප්‍රකාශන නොමිලේ බෙදාහැරීම
5. සිංහල සහ දෙමළ මූලික සහ උසස් පාඨමාලා සාර්ථකව අවසන් කළ පාඨමාලාලාභීන්ට සහතිකපත්‍ර ප්‍රදානය කිරීම .

රාජ්‍ය භාෂා සතිය සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සඳහා සහයෝගය ලබා දෙමින් සහෝදර අනෙක් ජාතියේ ගෞරුත්වය වටහා ගැනීමට භාෂාවේ වැදගත්කම තව තවත් වටහාගන්නා ලෙස ඔබ සැමගෙන් ගෞරවයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමි.

A  program to celebrate Sinhala  Language Day will be held at the auditorium of Divisional Secretariat, Ganewatta, Kurunegala  on 02^nd of March  2023. Valuable prizes and certificates will be offered to 50 winners of language competitions held among school children in Ganewatta Division.  Book sets containing the publications of the Department of Official Languages will be granted to the libraries of 17 schools in Ganewatta Division and it is scheduled to conduct a  program consisting of important lectures on language will be held there. This program is organized by the Divisional Secretariat, Ganewatta in collaboration with  the  Department of Official Languages. 

An informative training program on “computer equipment tools” that can be used for language translation work was held on 12.01.2023 together with the Department of Official Languages and the University of Moratuwa. Fifty nine translators participated in this training program, held at the Computer unit of the University of  Moratuwa. 

The inaugural program of all the courses conducted by the language laboratory will be held on 07.02.2023.
